How to install an eSIM using a QR Code on Oppo Device

In this guide, you have a step-by-step walkthrough you can take when installing an eSIM on your Oppo Device.

Installing an eSIM using a QR Code

Before attempting to install the eSIM, there are three main things you will need:

  • A strong internet connection - Ideally you will need to either be connected to Wi-fi or have a good 4G signal.
  • An eSIM compatible device - if you are unsure, here's a list of compatible devices: List of compatible devices
  • The device isn't locked to one Mobile Network - If you are unsure on whether or not your device is locked to a certain network, have a look at our article on how to check if your device is "locked/unlocked" Locked/unlocked devices

1. Go into Settings.

2. Go into "Mobile network"

3. Click "eSIM"

4. Turn on eSIM.

5. Click "Add eSIM"

6. Press "Next" > Scan the "QR Code" given through your eSIM Bundles account.

7. Once you have scanned your QR code, it will come up with the prompt given. > Click "Download".

8. Wait for the eSIM to be installed. > Press "Settings".

Note: This may take up to 10 minutes, please do NOT close this, or the installation will stop. 

9. Once back in settings, click on "eSIM".

10. Ensure your eSIM is enabled by clicking the three dots on the right-hand side > "Enable" > "Yes".

10. Make sure your Data roaming is on, or the eSIM will not work. You can do this by Going back into  Mobile Network > Data eSIM. 

11. Once in this section > Click the slider next to Data roaming and make sure that it turns blue (enabled)

How to install an eSIM Manually on a Oppo Device

In this guide, you have a step-by-step walkthrough you can take when installing an eSIM on your Oppo Device.

Installing an eSIM manually

Before attempting to install the eSIM, there are three main things you will need:

  • A strong internet connection - Ideally you will need to either be connected to Wi-fi or have a good 4G signal.
  • An eSIM compatible device - if you are unsure, compatible devices are listed here: List of compatible devices
  • The device isn't locked to one Mobile Network - If you are unsure of whether or not your device is locked to a certain network, have a look at our article on how to check if your device is "locked/unlocked" Locked/unlocked devices

1. Go into Settings.

2. Go into "Mobile network"

3. Click eSIM

4. Select "Add eSIM"

5. Press "Next"

6. When the QR code screen comes up > Press "Need help"

7. Select "Enter it manually"

8. To be able to Manually install the eSIM, you will need your "SM-DP + Address" and "Activation code". You must enter in the format of "1$Insert SM-DP + address here$ followed by the activation code, eg JQ-1MU12G-CJN26F. The code should end up looking something similar to the photo below.

9. Click "download" and it will enable the installation process.

Note: This may take up to 10 minutes, please do NOT close this, or the installation will stop. 
10. Once your eSIM has installed, press the "Settings" button in the bottom right corner.
11. Make sure your Data roaming is on, or the eSIM will not work. You can do this by Going back into  Mobile Network > Data eSIM. 

11. Once in this section > Click the slider next to Data roaming and make sure that it turns blue (enabled)

How to Uninstall an eSIM from Oppo Device

If you are looking to uninstall your eSIM from your Oppo device, follow the steps below:

Before starting the uninstall process, ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Ideally connect to the local Wifi or use a good 4G connection.

Note: You can also temporarily disable an eSIM if you intend to use it again.
Deactivating or disabling an eSIM will not extend the validity of the eSIM.

1. Go into Settings.

2. Go into "Mobile network"

3. Click into "eSIM".

4. Select the eSIM you want to remove (for this example, we are using "Data eSIM").

5. Click on the 3 dots shown on the right hand side and select "Delete".

6. Read and accept the prompt that is shown > Press Delete > Wait for the eSIM to be deleted.

Once this is done, your eSIM should have been successfully removed.

Turning Data Roaming on / off on Oppo Device

It is essential that "Data Roaming" is enabled in order to use the eSIM. 

You can "On" and "Off" your Data Roaming in your settings.

Turning on your Data Roaming will allow any eSIM to work with your device.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Go into Settings.

2. Click on "Mobile Network"

3. Click "Data eSIM"

4. Make sure this is enabled in order for the eSIM to work.

If the toggle is "Blue" as shown in the second photo, then Data Roaming is enabled.

If the toggle is "White" as shown in the first photo, be sure to click it so it turns blue.

Manual Network Selection on Oppo Devices

If you are struggling with a poor-quality connection on a particular network, we advise you manually search and select a different network. You will only be able to get an internet connection on the network(s) we offer a service on.

To look at this, follow these steps:

1. Go into Settings.

Go into "Mobile network"

3. Click on "Data eSIM"

4. Press "Operator"

5. De-select "Auto-select" > wait for it to search all available networks.

6. You can now select the desired network.

Identify Device Model on Oppo Devices

Providing your Oppo device is newer or the same as the Oppo Find X3 Pro, your phone should be compatible with an eSIM.

If you would like to check this, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Go into Settings.

2. Scroll down until you see "About device"

3. In this section you will see the device name/model.

Set up an APN on Oppo Devices

All our eSIMs have an automatic Access Point Name (APN) so manual programming is not necessary. 

However, if you do want to check or manually configure the APN, follow the steps below:

1. Go into Settings.

2. Go into "Mobile network"

3. Click into "Data eSIM"

4. Click on "Access point names"

5. From here you can see the name of the APN which should be under the name of "drei.at".If it does not show the name, then go to step 6.

6. Click on the APN > You can now manually rename it to "drei.at" in the Name section, leave the other fields blank.
